Hello fellow fisherman,

 

My name is Byron Artrip, owner of the Artrip float company. I was taught to build floats from an expert fisherman, named Herb. Herb and I built floats in his basement during the winter when I was a teenager and then sold them at the lakes we fished during the spring and summer.  We sold out of our floats that we had made all winter by the 4th of July every year. We both fished so much during the spring and summer that we didn’t build any floats during fishing season, just in the winter months. Herb didn’t like the floats that were on the market at the time as they were too big and bulky, and fish had a hard time pulling them under. He experimented with the different shapes and sizes until he came up with a float that worked better than any of the floats you could buy. We built our floats out of balsa wood, and they were streamlined and balanced. They could cast great distances with minimal effort. The floats we built were easy to pull under and they proved to be very effective on light biting fish.

I have made some improvements on the fishing floats we originally made over 45 years ago. I am always striving for a better performing float. Herb has been gone for some time now but I have tried to keep the tradition of producing the best fish catching floats out there. I think Herb would be proud of the product line of balsa fishing floats we offer. My hope is that the floats we sell will give you the advantage and increase your chances of catching more fish.
